The playing field at our school has a line of trees that divides it into the upper and lower field. The next step I take in our outdoor nature experiences takes place at the upper field and among the trees. We are lucky to have a small rolling hill and patches of dirt where the trees are growing. If you have a playing field on your school property, find a space you can use where you can see all of your students. Perhaps there is a fence line where they could look for insects or explore the plant life. I try to give the students more freedom during these activities as they continue to develop their listening skills outdoors.
